Failed students of VTU get MBA degrees simple error says VTU
10:59 AM Posted by ukmad

15 students were issued MBA degrees on the VTU convocation held in January 2010 who had actually failed and all this has come out after an RTI application by U Gautham.
VTU authorities describe the gaffe as “not a serious matter” but a “simple error”.
Blaming it all on the software the VTU has asked all the 15 students in question to return the degrees, but the RTI applicant has filed an case in the police.
VTU officials say that, software failed to show “failed” status.
A letter was sent by the Registrar (Evaluation) S.A. Kori on February 8, after a gap of one month after the degrees were awarded, stated: “You are hereby informed to surrender the degree certificate to the office undersigned immediately, which was sent to you through speed post.” The letters do not mention why the candidate should surrender the certificate.
This “simple error” now raises questions in the mind of the students that if this is the state of affairs of a technological university of the state, what about other colleges and universities.

Lotangan at Ashwathama temple Belgaum
10:14 AM Posted by ukmad

There is an annual fest on the second day after Holi, which was yesterday. All devotes do a “Lotangan” and water is thrown on the devotees from all the houses.
In Pangul galli, a large number devotees performed “Lotangan puja” (“urulu seve”) at Ashwathama temple. It is believed that people do the Lotangan after their wish has been granted by the lord.
The temple in the narrow street of Pangul Galli houses the idol of the cursed mythical warrior.
On Monday, a large number of devotees made a beeline to perform the lotangan, even as onlookers kept splashing ‘gulal' on them.
A special pooja was also performed and the temple committee distributed prasad. However, not many visit this shrine during rest of the year thanks to the curse attached to Ashwathama, who was believed to have killed the sons of the Pandavas. It is believed that seeing the idol brings bad luck.

A major crowd puller this time was the program organised by MLA Abhay Patil on Lele Ground named Holi milan, where there were sprinklers, dry color and separate areas for men and ladies where all could enjoy.
There also was live orchestra with foot tapping songs for the crowd to go mad.
The young crowd normally seen on Deshmukh road was not seen as most of them were on Lele ground but later the Deshmukh road also saw its old glory.

Foot over bridge to be removed
11:14 AM Posted by ukmad
The non sense foot over bridge built at Yedhe Khut, Dr.Rajendra Prasad Circle on college road near Vanita Vidyalaya will now be removed. The city corporation has invited tenders from reputed contractors for the removal of the bridge.
The foot over bridge built in 2000 by BUDA has never been used and was used for illegal activities and for advertising and recently for film shooting.
The bridge was built at a cost Rs.13 lakhs in year 2000 and now Rs.5 lakhs will be spent for the removal.
The dismantled bridge will kept at the corporation premises and later might be installed at first gate or CBT, but nothing of this is final.
This particular foot over bridge was wrongly built and main intention of building this was school children and commuters from villages who want to come into city will sue this to cross the College road.
But no one used to use this bridge, atlast its end is here.
Hope the removed bridge would be again installed in a scientific manner and in such a way that people will make use of it.
