11:16 AM Posted by ukmad

Its back! You will love this! Most of India is used to it! What is it?

Load shedding, power cuts!powercut

HESCOM yesterday announced a 4 hour load shedding in Belgaum for both domestic and industrial areas. The load shedding will be done in 3 slots; One hour two slots and 2 hour one slot in the evening. Industrial units will face power cuts of two slots two hours at a time.(6 am to 8 am & 6pm to 8pm)

Is this power cut Thanks to the Reddy’s or the present Yedurappa turmoil is not known. May be even we could link this power cut to this as a part of a strategy. North Karnataka saw unprecedential floods for which the rehabilitation work is still on and our MLA’s are enjoying the luxury of 5 star hotels in Hyderabd, Goa and Indore. The people whom we elected for our welfare are busy for their welfare, who cares for the common man.

Viabhav Nagar, malmaruti, Shetty Galli, Khade Bazar, Maruti Galli, City, Peeranwadi, Adarshnagar, Kanbargi, Hanuman Nagar, Shadyri nagar --- 7am to 8am, 10am to 11am & 3pm to 5pm.

Kamala Narayana Temple at Degaon

4:16 PM Posted by ukmad

Degaon is 5 kms from Kittur, 10 km from Halasi and 24 km from Bailhongal.

It is famous for Kadamba style Kamala Narayana temple, place with rich archeological find. Name of the place might have originated from its temple complex Devagrama meaning a village of God.degaon

Kamala Narayana Temple was built by the Kadamba queen, Kamaladevi in the 12th century. The sculptures are breathtakingly beautiful. Lions and floral motifs vie with dancing girls for attention.

The temple is rectangular in shape and consists of three cells with the pillared hall running from North to South in front of the shrines on the west side. Each of these shrines is divided into two parts, Garbhagriha and Sukhanasi. The frames of the doorways of the Sukhanasi are carved with creepers. The pieced stone windows which surround the doorways are 'more ornamental than in any other Kadamba temple. The Garbhagihas have, as in other Kadamba temples, the dedicatory block with the image of Gaja-Lakshmi.degaon1

The first cell contains the image of Narayana.

The second cell has the icon of Lakshmi-Narayana with Lakshmi seated on the lap of Vishnu. Garuda and Maruti are standing on either side of this image.

The third cell bears the image of Kamala with two attendants on either side.

The walls of the temple are adorned with niche having plasters surmounted by terraced pyramidal towers in the Kadamba style crowned with a Kalasha. The ceiling has pendant lotuses, all of them artistic pieces of workmanship remarkable for richness of ornamentation and elaboration of details.

Belgaum City Corporation website says daily flights to Bangalore Bombay

10:27 AM Posted by ukmad

ccb2http://www.belgaumcity.gov.in/ the official website of the Belgaum City Corporation is no different from other government websites, which are not bothered to be updated with time.

The site under its Tourism page still mentions that there are direct flights toBangalore and Bombay, where as the same have been stopped for over 8 months now.ccb1

Recently the similar was mentioned on the Belgaum.nic.in site which was eventually changed. But the corporation site it has not been updated.

Also the mention of Bombay was surprising to me, when the state govt. is bent on making Belgaum to Belgavi, it still mentions Mumbai as Bombay. (Raj Thakrey are you reading this)

Many people will say what is so great in this story? Not really great but people visiting Belgaum for the first time will visit this site and when they read something which is misleading will hurt them a lot.

So much talk of egovernance but no one bothers to update a website. What can you expect from them?

Governments work is God’s work. No comments.

Check corruption in Media Lokayukta urged

9:31 AM Posted by ukmad

Minister for Minority Welfare, Haj and Wakf Mumtaz Ali Khan yesterday in a press conference said that Lokayukta should be given full powers to check corruption not only in the legislature, executive and judiciary but also in the media.

Yellow journalism is also widespread. In the recent past, news reports, articles and editorials in newspapers made an instant impact on Government and the people concerned. But, today even the best editorials fail to make any impact on the psyche of the society at large, let alone the Government.

Rajotsava celebrated with great interest same with Black day

8:24 PM Posted by ukmad

Rajotsava was celebrated this time with great interest by the Kannada organizations but the govt. ministers and elected representatives were not seen in the celebrations. Only MLA Feroz Sait was present. 5 new 108 ambulances were taken into service today.21101193607_01101193607_1

Rajostava this time was celebrated with a vengeance and great pomp even when the govt. had asked it to be celebrated in low key manner. The Kannada organizations this time were together as the Marathi Maha mellava was allowed to happen.1101193607_31101193607_41101193607_61101193607_9

In the procession there were elephants, camels, dolby sound systems and of course thousands and thousands of people, not seen lately on a Rajostava.

At the same time Black day was observed with a cycle rally in Shahpur.blackday
