Belgaum may get a FM Radio Soon

The private FM radio explosion will soon embrace the hinterland of India, going into the smallest of towns, and among the beneficiaries will be residents of 16 places in Karnataka.
The Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd (BECIL), a government body tasked with formulating the growth plan of FM radio, has said in a report that the Phase-III of private FM radio expansion should focus on small town India. Accordingly, BECIL has suggested to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that the Phase-III expansion should focus on 237 ‘C’ and ‘D’ category towns in addition to some ‘A’ and ‘B’ category cities.

If the expansion process goes ahead as envisaged after TRAI gives its recommendations that will be formulated after receiving the inputs of all stakeholders to a consultation paper it has issued earlier this week.
People of Karnataka will be one of the major beneficiaries of this expansion, as a number of places will be brought under the FM radio map when it is implemented.
According to the list of cities suggested by BECIL where FM stations should be allowed in the State are Belgaum, Bellary, Devangere, Hubli-Dharwad (all four stations each), Bijapur, Bidar, Chitradurga, Chikmagalur, Gadag Betigeri, Hospet, Hassan, Kolar, Raichur, Shimoga, Tumkur and Udupi (all 3 stations each).
Hope this happens fast, I am dying to hear to FM in Belgaum.

This may sound really funny it is nothing related to news u covered. Just suggestion as many belgaumites may be visiting your site. can you start some kind of matrimonial/dating/friendship ad space on your blog so that we can have lot of new friends from belgaum also it will help grow viewer ship of your blog. Its very difficult on large site like yahoo or msn or facebook to find some one from belgaum. let me know your thoughts on this.

Well the news i covered about FM radio was very new to me atleast as the same hasnt appeared anywhere in the local news papers.
About your suggestions i have already given a LINK to the BELGAUM Community of ORKUT. All your suggestions are under way infact many of them are in a process and it will take time. And this blog will remain a place for a Belgaumite as a site for getting info not normally available else where. Some pictures have never been seen before but all of them are on this blog.One more thing i dont cover all the news, just the ones I think are imp. Anyways ur suggestions are most welcome, i will try and ful fill your dreams.

Mr. Anonymous .... do u go to bigbazzar ... or any mall ..? i suppose u do go ... then i would like to know why do u go there ... if u have a reason for why u go there ... then that will explain u what this site is all about ... u get everything at one place .... this is not a commercial site .... this site is for belgaumites and ofcourse for others as well (like YOU) ... who are unaware of the developments going on in belgaum ...

if u r a blgaumite then turn on the radio n tune it to 98.3MHz to get Radio Mirchi Kolhapur station or tune it to 94.3MHz to get Tomato fm klpr station..

what ever it may be,private fm radio stations are interested only in bangalore,mysore n magalore,what mr ukmad has said abt fm stations thta message iam seeing since 3years back only,it was said that after mysore hubli,belguam,gulberga wil get new radio stations,but still no new news about that topic only,i think we hav to wait for still 5yrs,than new radio stations may start in this region

the radio station in north karanataka i mean to say 103fm vivdhbharathi is no more use full.morning in nandana proggramme such a use less songs they play,that none can enjoy listening to radio these days,atlest they can improve the service by changing the programmes,like request for old songs and new songs at different times,no improvement is seen in 103fm.

What Mr. Umkad has wrriten, I saw this in news paper around two years back and after that no sign of it. Presently I am enjoying FM stations from DD direct DTH radio service.

I am paramesh. staying in belgaum. i want the radio station in belgaum. i mean to say 103fm vivdhbharathi is no more use full.morning in nandana proggramme such a use less songs they play,
belgaum may have many tourist places. but no one fm station for listeners and tourist peoples. please i requesting you start fm station soon.. pls pls.

I am paramesh from belgaum.I want fm station to launched in belgaum.please do fm station soon in belgaum.now we are presently listening kolhapur stations. so please make fm station soon.
