Ramesh Kudachi continues Party-hopping now joins BJP

5:21 PM Posted by ukmad

Party-hopping has become the order of the day. It is no more surprise for the people to see their “leaders” quitting a party and joining another, which he or she has been criticising and opposing on various issues.

To join this gang is Ramesh Kudachi the former Congress MLA from Belgaum, who was in the JD(s) till Wednesday, has now joined hands with Suresh Angadi and has asked people to vote for Angadi. He and some of his supporters have publicly supported Angadi in a public meeting yesterday, but the official announcement is yet be made.

Party hoppers are no less and these parties also take in all the hoppers as they know they will do the same one day. Party hopping is a necessity now. No ideologies nothing it’s just opportunist politics. Unlike in the past, leaders now party-hop only for personal gains and not for the sake of the people or any ideology.

Vote BJP for development, safety and security of the country: Advani in Belgaum Speech

10:43 PM Posted by ukmad

“Only in UPA ruled states farmers are committing suicide in large numbers. But such incidents of suicide are not found in BJP ruled states in the country”, said BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Sri L K Advani.
Addressing a massive election rally in support of BJP’s Belguam and Chikkodi candidates, he said UPA failed to give an able and effective government to the country during its rule. By coming to power in Karnataka BJP has come out of the tag of being only a North Indian party, he stated.
During the NDA rule under the able leadership of Sri A B Vajpayee the country witnessed all-round progress. It is sad that Vajpayee is not with us today due to his ill health. He further added that country could prosper only when poverty is eradicated and farmer’s condition is improved. BJP will work hard to ensure total development and overall welfare of its people.
Expressing confidence that NDA will get majority in the forthcoming elections Sri Advani said, “UPA government has completely neglected the safety and security of the country. BJP will bring stringent laws to control the menace of terrorism if voted to power”.
Criticizing the Congrss and UP government for invoking NSA on Varun Gandhi Sri Advani said it is a shame that the government is dillydallying to hang Afzal Guru who was responsible for attack on Parliament.
He called upon the people to vote for the BJP to ensure the development, safety and security of the country.

BJP will have to sweat it out in Belgaum

Media Coverage of Belgaum for the Loksabha Elections 2009
Here is a story form The Hindu.

Suresh Angadi is relying on Lingayat votes & Congress is a divided house in Belgaum.
In the absence of any “wave” in favour or against any political party and despite a visible degree of public anger against the Bharatiya Janata Party for its failure to implement the promise of distributing rice at Rs. 2 per kg, the “Operation Lotus,” and allegations of corruption in appointments and transfers, the party may retain the Belgaum Lok Sabha seat.
The present MP, Suresh C. Angadi, an influential Lingayat leader, is locked in a “50:50” contest with Congress candidate Amarsinh Patil. The Janata Dal (S) has also fielded a Lingayat in A.B. Patil, who quit the Congress after being denied the party ticket. The threat of a section in the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) to vote against him for his remarks on President Pratibha Patil and Chhatrapati Shivaji in the recent past has only compounded his problems. Even a section of the Kannada workers have turned against him for his support to MES on the flag row here recently. Although he tendered an apology to both the groups, it has demoralised his own party men.
Amarsinh Patil is campaigning all alone. He is relying on the support of the backward classes, particularly Kurubas, Dalits, Christians and Muslims, and those who are disillusioned with BJP’s style of governance in Karnataka.
Mr. Angadi is banking on the support of the Lingayats and a majority of the Marathi-speaking voters, a section of Dalits, traditional supporters of BJP, and new young voters.
He is confident that BJP Government’s initiatives to develop Belgaum into a second capital by establishing the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, besides national issues like terrorism; recession, price rise and growing unemployment would work in his favour.

Angadi, Patil apologies to Kannada speaking people

11:47 AM Posted by ukmad

Suresh Angadi(MP) and Sanjay Patil MLA who were in the eye of the storm after their recent support for the saffron flag have publicly apologized to the Kannada speaking people for hurting their sentiments.

The Belgaum police have filed a first information report (FIR) against BJP candidate Suresh C. Angadi and MLA Sanjay Patil in connection with hoisting of a saffron flag on the new premises of Belgaum City Corporation (BCC) and allegedly making inflammatory speeches.

These politicians are hard to be understood. Take the above example of the two BJP leaders, who came on their own at the Corporation premises and when there was a spat with the MES activists Angadi proudly took the saffron flag and demanded it’s should be put up. Once this was done the Kannada activists demanded the removal of Angadi as the candidate and succumbing to their demand made an apology.

That day they both were there to show their support for Marathi people and when Kananda people arose they turned back. My point is here not to bring forth the language bias but the mentality of the politicians in general. Tomorrow you could see Angadi speaking in Marathi and again saying that saffron flag must be hoisted. They come to ask for the votes once in 5 years and the same situation is all over the country. Now how can one believe on the BJP candidate?

May what it be, this time the elections are not as simple as they were all these years. Development issues have never come up for discussions, the whole campaign might just go off in settling this issue alone.

Belgaum DC to file cases against Patil and Angadi

4:19 PM Posted by ukmad

The Election Commission taking stock of the saffron flag controversy has asked the Belgaum DC to files cases against Sanjay Patil MLA and Suresh Angadi MP. Action has been sought under the provisions of both the Indian Penal Code and the Representation of People Act for violating the poll code and making inflammatory speeches that could cause division among communities

Members of the Janata Dal (Secular) Students Wing ransacked the chamber of BJP MLA Sanjay Patil at the Legislators' Home Bangalore on Wednesday in protest against hoisting of the saffron flag.

Kannada Development Authority Chairman Mukyamantri Chandru condemned an apology from the MP and MLA while various pro-Kannada organizations staged a demonstration in Bangalore, Belgaum and other parts of the state and condemned the BJP leaders’ attitude of surrendering to Marathi voters during the elections.

Elections are near: BJP now plays Marathi card on saffron flag issue

7:57 PM Posted by ukmad

As the MES and the Shivsena were agitating in front of the new corporation building demanding for the Saffron flag to be hoisted, it was surprise to see MP Suresh angadi and MLA Sanjay Patil come there and support the hoisting of the Saffron flag.

To go further Angadi said that, if L K Advani becomes the PM even the saffron flag will be hoisted on the parliament. Suresh Angadi and Snajay Pati land various others were arrested from the site and later released. There was complete road blockade on the road from RTO circle to Kolhapur Cross.

The Kannada Rakhsene Vedike burnt effigies of MLA Sanjay Patil and Suresh Angadi as they demanded the hoisting of the saffron flag. The KRV said they will never vote both of them again.
The BJP supporting the MS and Shivsena is nothing but playing the Marathi card as elections are near, and it’s for sure that if the Marathi votes don’t go in favor of BJP, then it would be very difficult for Angadi to win. MP Suresh Angadi even spoke in Marathi at the occasion and even Sanjay Patil.

May what it be, but the BCC is in news again for other reasons than it should be and the Marathi-Kannada spat will be the pivotal point again during the elections. Normally this has not been the issue for the Loksabha polls till date, but this time it seems Marathi- Kannada will affect and would be a major item of discussion during the upcoming elections.
