Congress road should be declared Accident zone

Today at 2.05pm two motorcycles collided with each other injuring one seriously and two others.

The accident occurred near Arun Theatre on Congress Road (the cross road towards hotel Panchamrut). A motorcyclist coming in full speed from First gate towards military Mahadev collided with another motorcyclist who was coming wrong side on the same road trying to go towards first gate.

The police immediately came in and fortunately a Police jeep was passing by which took the injured to hospital. The 108 ambulance which was called in by on lookers came later.

Residents of the area demanded that speed breakers be put up near the side roads approaching the Congress road so that such accidents done take place. Similar accidents have take place many a times on the same road and most of the time they go unreported and hence nothing is done by the authorities, Santosh Purohit a local resident told this blog. There are as many as 8 cross roads on Congress road from Military Mahadev to first railway gate.

Commuters on Congress road normally are in full speed and suddenly when some vehicle comes in cross the road either they collide or skid after applying brakes urgently.

Truck bearing No. KA 48 6062 coming from Gogte Circle going towards 1st gate hit a Tricycle moped on congress Road and injured one. Accident occurred at 8.35pm.

This particular accident, occurred near the Maratha Colony cross (ARUN) on Congress Road; when a tricycle moped broke down in the middle of the road and a young lad came to help move the tricycle from the main road to the side. When this truck ramped in from behind and the young lad was injured mostly on his back as the steel bar at the back of on the tricycle was smashed up. The driver of the tricycle however escaped without any injuries. The driver and cleaner of the truck ran away from the spot. The injured was rushed to the civil hospital in an auto.

The said truck has been brought aside with the help other truck drivers and now is kept at the Maratha Colony cross road.

Congress road is becoming a accident zone and at least 2-3 minor accidents occur on the road. The police needs to look at this seriously and take some measures to check the speed of vehicles on the road even when the Max speed limit is 40 kmph.

The truck was moved to the Traffic police station at 9.48pm

Congress Road: Accident zone drive carefully

4:33 PM Posted by ukmad

In an accident, today at 2.30pm on Congress road (opp. Arun theatre) the two wheeler was caught up at the back of a city bus.

In the photo it is clear that the city bus was about to stop at the bus shelter when the two wheeler from behind ramped in.
There were no serious injuries to the driver of the two wheeler, but this raises the question of safe driving on Congress Road.

Many don’t know that Congress road is a accident prone zone, everyday or alternate days there is some minor accident that occurs around the Arun theatre area. Most of these cases go un registered as the cause of accident is skidding on most occasions or just minor bruises to both humans and vehicles. The speed limit is 40 kph on Congress road but no one adheres to it and this is main cause of accidents. There are a lot of side roads from where traffic joins the main congress road which is again a cause of worry.

If any of you have suffered on the road or have seen similar scenes, do leave a comment.

College student dies in accident: He could have been saved, IF?

Srinivas Ashok Dharoli (16), a student of the Jain College here, was killed in a road accident near Shagun Garden Khadarwadi Cross on Belgaum-Khanapur Road on Tuesday. He fell off the motorcycle he was riding after it skidded when he tried to avoid a cyclist. He suffered head injuries and died on the way to hospital. He survived by his father, two brothers, and one sister.

The worst part of this accident is that when he fell down on lookers did not have the humanity to pick him up and send to the hospital; instead, all were just seeing him die. His head had hit the handle and due to this, there was internal bleeding and heavy bleeding from his nose and mouth. When a group of Jain college students saw him then he was picked up and on his way to the hospital he died.

He was a very good student and a very good cricketer. Now that he no more, his parents and friends must be asking this question "IF HE WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO HOSPITAL HE COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED"

This is a rather similar scene all over India, whenever there is an accident no one tries to take the victim to hospital fearing the Police enquiries. This is some what true but this could happen to anyone and if at that time also no one comes up to Save Then What?

Right to Emergency care

The Supreme Court has ruled (Case No: Appeal (Civil) 919of 2007 Date of Judgment: 23-02-2007) that all injured persons especially in the case of road traffic accidents when brought to a Hospital have to be offered First Aid, stabilized & shifted to a Government center if required. It is only after this that the Hospital can demand for payment or complete police formalities. Incase you are a bystander and wish to help someone in an accident, please go ahead and do so. Your responsibility ends as soon as you leave the person at the hospital. The hospital bears the responsibility of informing the police etc.
An accident could happen to any one. It could be you one day. Lets make a promise "We will help anyone in a road accident by getting him to hospital and we will not be a bystander alone."
