Fire at CBT – not much damage caused

7:53 AM Posted by ukmad

As reported by CJ Prostil-

A fire broke out at the main switchboard at the Central bus stand yesterday mid night.  The worst part there was no fire extinguishers or other fire fighting equipment at such a crowded place. The locals there brought the fire under control and even after 20 minutes or so the Fire brigade had not responded. There is the Market police station just opposite the Bus stand but there were no fire extinguishers there or they might not be working. Not much damage was done to property or life but fire fighting equipment is a necessity in such highly crowded areas.

The authorities should look into this seriously and make arrangements for fire fighting equipment and with the same regular maintenance of the same should be under taken.

All the commuters were safe as they had come out when they smelled the leaking of the gas. The fire fighters came in time and extinguished the fire. The car was turned in to ashes within minutes. No one was injured in the incident.
But this again raises questions on how safe it is to use LPG in cars?

108 Ambulance service in Belgaum

4:17 PM Posted by ukmad

The 108 Emergency Response Service (ERS), now enters Belgaum.

The project covers medical, fire and police emergencies all in a single number. The need for such a service arises because the country lacks a systematic ERS, prevalent in the developed countries of the world.
The EMRI has thus proved to be a boon. It was born in the context of the ineffective co-ordination among multiple emergency response systems in the country coupled with an inadequate legal framework. To top it all, there was an absence of a single emergency number, trauma care facilities and basic life support ambulances. All these bottlenecks led the genesis of the EMRI.
So the next time there is an emergency the number to call is 108.

How the system works?
