RPD cross menace

3:23 PM Posted by ukmad

I had earlier posted the chaotic situation of RPD cross, nothing has changed till date, except for a new Bus bay which is made by using the Traffic barricades.

However, the City buses hardly use them and normally stop before the barricades itself, which causes traffic jam, as it occupies a major part of the road.

If the traffic constable is not around the Bus bay, area is normally used for parking.

The road is wide enough but it should be properly made and proper implementation of the traffic sense will solve many problems of the circle.

The barricades are causing a nuisance on the road, and one better thing about them is that the said barricades are moved if some VIP is coming to town, as they are needed somewhere else. Therefore, the authorities should look into the matter and make some permanent arrangements.

Traffic signals await inauguration

On this blog a story was posted on March 11,2008 Belgaum getting many Traffic Signals:Khanapur Road widened.

It is the end of May now and still this traffic signal awaits inauguration. The newly installed signals at Globe circle and RPD cross are still not working. Belgaumites thought that riding on roads would become a bit easier, but to their despair, still they await inauguration. Now that the new BJP govt is there in Belgaum and we have two BJP MLAs we should expect someone to inaugurate them.

In the past couple of months, the traffic sense of Belgaumites has changed to a certain extent and all that is thanks to the Traffic sub inspector Narayanswamy. He with his staff has given Ganpat Galli a breather earlier by removing all the hawkers from the street. Markings put on both sides of the roads all over the city so that the vehicles are parked properly within these markings. Half of Huns talkies road has been reserved for car parking.6-7 cars can now also be parked in front of Bata showroom in Hutatma chowk. Now going ahead with this, yesterday the Kapelshwar road got road dividers in the form of barricades. The Kapelshwar road rail crossing was a headache for the commuters in the area when the same used to be closed for rail crossing. Now the said road has been converted to a one way for four wheelers so the trucks and tempo being stuck at the railway gate will be avoided and the smooth flow of traffic will be there.

Therefore, the next time you drive in Belgaum be careful to park correctly or be ready to shell a fine.

Belgaum getting many Traffic Signals:Khanapur Road widened

These are new on the Belgaum roads now. New traffic signals are being put up at RPD Cross & Cantonment Bord cricle(near Globe Theatre). No doubt these were necessary but with these the road humps near the signals should be removed otherwise the traffic will become dead slow. and hope they will be on for quite a some time other than those installed earlier.

Khanapur Road (camp) being widened

These are pictures oft he Khanapur Road (camp, infront of police quarters) near to Sanchayni circle. the said road is being widened by 3 feet. In the above pics you can see the JCB digging out the earth and on the other side is the already dug part. Due to this the traffic is very slow on this road after Fish market to Sanchayani circle.
