Addressing a media conference here today, he said that he would arrange the marriage of boys and girls found celebrating Valentine's Day only with the consent of their parents.

The boy and girl would be handed over to the Police if the parents oppose the marriage. "Let the parents get their children released from the Police custody.

Earlier, he had threatened that the Sene activists, who will be accompanied by purohits, would perform the marriage of the pairs spotted on Valentine's Day.


Reacting to the campaign of women's organisations of sending pink underwear to Sene activists, Mutalik declared that the Sene would gift pink sarees to such women.

Muthalik will be in Belgaum for Valentine’s Day.

Own dream house in Belgaum: Wait & Watch

In this global recession the prices of land and flats have not gone down in Belgaum. I have been mentioning the same from a long time.

The prices of flats have come down but that’s attributed to the reduction in cost of raw materials and nothing else and the decrease is also not commendable.

All are doing a wait and watch policy here. People interested in buying are not yet making a decision yet. The buyers expect the prices to go down but the builders don’t.

One more notable factor I realized is that as other companies are reducing their costs on advertising the Real estate companies are increasing the spend at least in Belgaum. Huge hoardings of Queens court, Heda Builders are up in many places in the city. There are another few also I have seen like Nasco developers.

Belgaum Corporation council meeting adjourned sine die: all development sine die

Mayor Prashanta Budavi on Tuesday adjourned sine die the general body meeting of the Belgaum City Corporation Council for want of quorum. Only 9 of the 58 members were present.

Nothing was discussed about Belgaum development, this is democracy. We elect the corporators and they never attend the meeting, they have their own reasons behind it.

But how suffers, common man. What happened in UP yesterday in the state legislature when some SP members threw papers at the Governor.

We as voters should think before we vote.

Belgaum traffic police to get Interceptors

The Cheverolet Tavera Interceptors are installed with two cameras, one alcohol meter, with features of zooming on to the over speeding vehicles' register numbers and the driver also. A 360 degree rotation camera installed on the roof of the interceptors is capable of tracing any traffic violator in every direction." The traffic violations include over-speeding, dangerous driving, signal jumping, drunken driving, one-way rule violations, no parking and the like. Those penalized will be stored in records as a backup. Ajay Kumar Singh also added that many who violate traffic at times refuse to accept it and pick up a fight with the policemen.
However, with the records being maintained the offenders will not stand a chance to escape the offence.

V-day under Sene’s moral policing

Shri Ram Sene activists are all set to restrict couples on Valentine Day in Belgaum.

A anti V- Day campaign will be run until Feb.14 in the city by about 500 activists.

Letters have been furnished to hotel owners, principals of the colleges, student representatives, greeting cart and gift sellers, Flower vendors as well as to wardens of the both boys and girls hostels, comprising the request matter of ‘guide the students not to celebrate V-Day for the sake of Indian culture’.

All public gardens, open estates, hotels and restaurants, cinema theaters and also the places noted for couples sanctuary like Kittur Chennamma garden, Vaijnath road as well as extension places- Bhootaramanahatti garden and Rakaskop lake areas will be under watch of the Sene activist on the day.
Any unmarried couple appears on the day should require to prove their relationship with each other, whether they wandering with or without consent of their parents. "If any couple will look in an uneasy attitude, we can bind them in wedding knout on the spot" Pawar added. Replying to the question, forcing couple for marriage is not an illegal? He said, "Whatever those couple can do that also be an illegal and against the Indian culture. We are trying to give massage to the society that V-Day culture is not ours, Celebrate love but not fix up particular day for that. We apposing only the V-Day but not love or lovers" he clarified.

KRV to stop the tender process for the 100 crore special grant works for Belgaum

HESCOM’s power play to continue

Due to some technical fault at the Raichur power plant there is a acute power shortage in the state and the HESCOM’s power play will continue over a few more days.

In fact this time the whole state is witnessing the power play. This is exam time and the students who are preparing for their exams will feel the pinch of the power cuts the most.

The demand in the past week has also risen due to the increase in temperature which now lies in between 28 to 31 Deg C. The demand for fans and even AC’s has seen some increase in the past week.

BJP to resolve the Karnataka Maharashtra border row if it comes to power

The BJP expressed confidence, that the Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary dispute will be resolved amicably if the party comes to power at the Centre, and ruled out "differences" with ally Shiv Sena over the row.

Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters, "BJP believes that inter-state issues could be resolved only through dialogue. If our BJP government comes to power at Centre, a satisfactory way-out will be found."

Belgaum to get Bandu patil Circle

The Belgaum Cantonment had planned to rename the Khanapur road from Sanchayni Circle to Suryakant Park (Gogte circle) as Bandu Patil (He was a part of the gold medal winning Indian hockey team in the 1960’s) road, but it was later found that, the same road was named after Maj.Cariappa in the military records.

Hence it is now decided to rename the Sanchayani Circle as Bandu Patil Circle and circle will be renovated with an island in the middle.

This circle was named as Sanchayani Circle about 10 years ago when Sanchayani group was building a complex at the circle and also had sought permission then from the Cantonment board to maintain the circle. But the Complex was ready but never occupied due to court orders and till date it is lying un used due to litigation.

The Sanchayani group had built a island in the middle but due to non maintenance the island was removed.

Belgaum Dog show 2009 on 8th Feb

The Belgaum Dog show 2009 will be held at the District Stadium on February 8 at 10 am.
The event is being organized by the Karnataka Veterinary Association district Branch, Belgaum.
