7:39 AM Posted by ukmad

After some Dharnas and protests by the Weavers from Belgaum HESCOM has now been able to get 80MW of electricity for Belgaum and hence the load shedding will be for 4 hours.

There will be only 4 hours load shedding from 9am to 1pm in the city areas. Industrial areas the load shedding timing will be from 6pm to 10 pm. 10pm to 6 am there will be un disclosed power cuts in the industrial areas. The weavers will face the power cuts from 4pm to 8pm.

Rural areas will still face 10-14 hours power cuts.

Power play is over ?

12:57 PM Posted by ukmad

Yesterday the weavers of Belgaum locked up the HESCOM officials and MLA in the HESCOM office and the results are visible today I guess.

Power play or power cuts have now reduced. The daily 6-7 hour cut will be how much in day is yet to be seen, but it’s a sigh of relief to the citizens.

In the city area there used to be load shedding from 10 am to 1 pm, but today it was from 10 to 11 am only, and hence I am able to update this blog as well on time.

We need to see the whole day and then take a note of the entire amount the power cuts are scheduled. The HESCOM officials stated that there will not be any more un scheduled load shedding in town.

Hope for the best. Pray to God for more rains and this power problem could be solved for the time being at least.

Power cuts reels country from Delhi to Galli

11:15 AM Posted by ukmad

Power cuts and protests against it were seen in most parts of north India, where as in the south 6 to 8 hours of power cuts were seen without much resent from the public as yet.

As the monsoon has yet to arrive and faults in the various power transmission units and producing units all over the country are causing acute power cuts all over.

Belgaum is not left either. There is an unscheduled power cut of 6- 7 hours daily from the past 4 days. A common man can understand the problems of power supply companies but the manner in which the same is being implemented is a cause of worry.

There are power cuts in Bangalore and whole of the state in a same manner. When the lights go, you should be sure that they won’t come for an hour at least, even after and if they still don’t come make the time slot for 2 hours.

Particularly in Belgaum the weather is cold enough for the fans and AC’s to be shut down which is saving power but the small business man like a photocopying, internet cafes had to shut down as there is no power. IT companies working in Belgaum also face the same problem and Swapneel of eth1 network solutions said that he had a 12 hour back up for his office which needs to run 24 *7, 365 days and he had to buy a generator to get power back up. He added we cannot do without power, if inverters fail then we have to have backup systems for this as well.

The condition will not improve in the week at least, hope the rains god come and also the power generation plants get back on their feet.

Till all is ok, be primed to face darkness.

HESCOM’s power play to continue

10:55 AM Posted by ukmad

Due to some technical fault at the Raichur power plant there is a acute power shortage in the state and the HESCOM’s power play will continue over a few more days.

In fact this time the whole state is witnessing the power play. This is exam time and the students who are preparing for their exams will feel the pinch of the power cuts the most.

The demand in the past week has also risen due to the increase in temperature which now lies in between 28 to 31 Deg C. The demand for fans and even AC’s has seen some increase in the past week.

Power cuts hits city life

10:12 AM Posted by ukmad

Since Sunday, the city is facing acute power shortage due to some technical snag in the generation units in the state and that is causing HESCOM to cut power for above 5-6 hours daily.
Yesterday there was a power cut of 6 hours and more in some other parts of the city. The worst part is the lights go off at any time hence causing a lot of trouble. The industrial people are hit the most as they have to bear more cuts than the usual 4 hours daily. The generators are back to work and don’t know till when this will last.

Load Shedding in Industrial areas also

1:06 PM Posted by ukmad

Four hours load shedding will be done in the Industrial areas (Udaymbag) from today. Timing would be evening 6pm to 10pm and HESCOM has asked all the industries to close all their activities during this time.

The load shedding time table is not yet put so be ware you could see power off any moment. Yesterday the whole day from 9 am to 5.30 pm the power was off due to a technical snag.

In rural areas, the load shedding is for 6 to 8 hours.

This is just October, the October heat is just getting up the mercury levels and the power shortage in the state is the just the trailer of what is in store in the months to come.

The Karnatak Govt is calling the Tatas to Karnataka for the Nano project and what will they give them a gift of Load shedding
