There will be only 4 hours load shedding from 9am to 1pm in the city areas. Industrial areas the load shedding timing will be from 6pm to 10 pm. 10pm to 6 am there will be un disclosed power cuts in the industrial areas. The weavers will face the power cuts from 4pm to 8pm.

Power play is over ?

Yesterday the weavers of Belgaum locked up the HESCOM officials and MLA in the HESCOM office and the results are visible today I guess.

Power play or power cuts have now reduced. The daily 6-7 hour cut will be how much in day is yet to be seen, but it’s a sigh of relief to the citizens.

In the city area there used to be load shedding from 10 am to 1 pm, but today it was from 10 to 11 am only, and hence I am able to update this blog as well on time.

We need to see the whole day and then take a note of the entire amount the power cuts are scheduled. The HESCOM officials stated that there will not be any more un scheduled load shedding in town.

Hope for the best. Pray to God for more rains and this power problem could be solved for the time being at least.

No power but still be ready to pay more

Acute power crisis has hit Belgaum and the state and where city needs 120 MW its hardly getting 44MW.

Minister Eswarappa said that Belgaum will get 20MW more from Wednesday from the central grid. However, is there any surplus in the central grid to provide is yet to be seen?

CM BSY yesterday again cautioned the public at large that the hike in electricity tariff was round the corner and he cannot do anything to stop it. A rise of about 20% to 30% is expected from the next month in the electricity tariff.

The time table declared is for 7 hours where as there are power cuts for up to 10 hours in city and more than 14 hours in rural areas.

Its hardships all the way, kerosene, which was available in the open market for Rs.32 per liter, now costs anything from Rs.35 to 37. This is hitting the businesspersons a lot.

So this is “Government’s work is God’s work”. Those words written on the Vidhan Soudha, Bangalore I had read long time back

HESCOM’s Power play

In the past two days HESCOM is playing with power supply. The state is facing a power shortage and before the Assembly session there was a planned load shedding going on, but during the session this was stopped.

Now after the session there is no planned load shedding. There is power cut at any time and for any time period. Sometimes it’s half an hour and sometimes four hours. Yesterday it was a hide and seek as after every 15 minutes or so there was a power cut.

Today so far the situation seems to be good.

Power cuts hits city life

10:12 AM Posted by ukmad

Since Sunday, the city is facing acute power shortage due to some technical snag in the generation units in the state and that is causing HESCOM to cut power for above 5-6 hours daily.
Yesterday there was a power cut of 6 hours and more in some other parts of the city. The worst part is the lights go off at any time hence causing a lot of trouble. The industrial people are hit the most as they have to bear more cuts than the usual 4 hours daily. The generators are back to work and don’t know till when this will last.

Load Shedding in Industrial areas also

1:06 PM Posted by ukmad

Four hours load shedding will be done in the Industrial areas (Udaymbag) from today. Timing would be evening 6pm to 10pm and HESCOM has asked all the industries to close all their activities during this time.

The load shedding time table is not yet put so be ware you could see power off any moment. Yesterday the whole day from 9 am to 5.30 pm the power was off due to a technical snag.

In rural areas, the load shedding is for 6 to 8 hours.

This is just October, the October heat is just getting up the mercury levels and the power shortage in the state is the just the trailer of what is in store in the months to come.

The Karnatak Govt is calling the Tatas to Karnataka for the Nano project and what will they give them a gift of Load shedding

Yesterday’s black out was due to Technical fault

9:47 PM Posted by ukmad

On Monday morning, everybody woke up with no electricity and all said that it was part of a power cut.
However, Infact it was due to a failure of an insulator at the Hubli 200 KV unit and it took 6 hours to repair the same.

In the evening the Tata Power, plant had a problem so the power was off. By 8 pm, the power returned and Belgaum got about 80 MW as against 120MW demand.

It has been decided that the industries will face a 4-hour load shedding.
Still Belgaum needs 40 MW and due to this shortfall load shedding is inevitable.

Power drought hits Belgaum:6 to 12 hours power cut

1:07 PM Posted by ukmad

Get ready for an almost black out. From today the 12 hours of load shedding will be done in the city. The CM, Yedurappa will make a statement in the assembly today on this and the timetable for the load shedding could be out.

I had thought of this post in the morning but as power was not there, I am posting this in the afternoon.

Belgaum been put under the 12 hours power cut zone but the HESCOM is trying to get it under the 6 hour cut zone. However, sources say that the 12-hour cut is inevitable.

The monsoon has disappeared and the MET dept. who had said for a very good to above average monsoon this time is not making any statements expect to saying that nothing will change in the next 4-5 days. Which literally means no rains?

The people of Belgaum have started calling in the Gods, asking for rain. Many social and religious groups have organized prayers and havans so that the rain god comes back.

May what it is, even if Singh really becomes the King tomorrow or the Left win the wrong battle in your town its going to be a bit a dark a bit earlier.

Candle making industries are working over night to make up for the orders they have. Kisika Fayda Kisika Nuksaan, Ye he reeth hai Zindagi ki.

Be prepared to be in the dark or pray to the Rain God to come earlier.

Load shedding in Belgaum

As the production of electricity has drastically reduced due to, the shortage of water in the dams and the demand has increased due to heat, HESCOM (Hubli Electricity Supply Company) has decided to cut 20% supply to the city.

Since the past few days, load shedding is on the city for about half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening but the timing is not fixed and there is no fixed schedule, which is causing problems to Belgaumites.

Belgaum gets the supply from the 220 KV Indal Station. This station requires about 120 Mega Watt but it is getting only 23 MW from Hubli and 60 MW from Tata Power which means a shortage of 37 MW. Load shedding is being done to cover this shortfall.

A detailed load shedding timetable is expected in a couple of days.

We never faced the problem this summer as there was plenty of rainfall from March to may. However, this monsoon we will have to face it.

However, we are better than other states like Maharashtra where there is 4 –5 hours of load shedding in town and about 12-14 hours in rural areas.
