Most of the story of Malgaokar's novel 'Bandicoot Run' happens in Belgaon city. thus he put this city on international map by way of his novel. He highlighted its strategic importance, its cosmopolitan nature, its bazar, and military life style in this novel. One feels like visiting the place after reading it. He also had his primary/secondary education in Belgaon---Ravi Torne Mumbai, toranedra@gmail.com

'all about Belgaon' is a very nice site dedicated to a town/district.I liked it very much. I have not visited it but I always feel that I like this town because I was introduced to Belgaon by Marathi literature. Manohar Malgonkar was there . Besides famous Marathi author a Sahitya acadamy winner writer Professor G A Kulkarni dedicated his book 'Saanj Shakun' to the city of Belgaon. In his dedication he had written
    "Belgaon nayachya gavas
Tuzya pasun Dur gelo tari tuzy athavaninchi butti ajun vizat nahi"
means : (I dedicate this book)
"To city of Belgaon,Though I have I have gone away from you, your memories are unforgettable" He has described many places of Belgaon in his stories. He was educated in Belgaon and later worked as a teacher in one of the school therein before joining Janta College Dharwad University.
Another great Marathi Poetess Indira Sant also lived in Belgaon.
And I was fiest introduced to this small but remarkable place when I read first time Marathi translation of Bhagvad Gita 40 years ago. written by one Mr.----Gunaji advocate , Tilak wadi Belgaon. Unfortunately I dont remember his full name nor I have the copy now. I am for eve grateful to him for his very intelligent yet readable translation. Will anybody provide me his full name?----Ravi Torane Toranendra@gmail.com
