Deer in garbage at Military Mahadev Belgaum
4:08 PM Posted by ukmad
Photo is self explanatory; you can see the Deer amidst plastic waste searching for food. It must have eaten plastic and what will be its end result? The photo was taken by team AllAboutBelgaum at Military Mahadev, rear entrance yesterday 11-03-2009 at 5.45 pm. The plastic waste of Lassi packets is seen within the cage so someone from there only must have dumped it there and within the cage means the grazing area for the deer’s.
God Bless those Deer’s.

In Pangul galli, a large number devotees performed “Lotangan puja” (“urulu seve”) at Ashwathama temple.
MES stand for Safforn Flag
11:41 AM Posted by ukmad
The MES will launch a protest against the same they said. The DC rejected the MES delegation plea stating that the High Court has directed that only the tri colour could flutter on the building. The flag will be hoisted or no will only come to know on 16th.
History of the Saffron Flag:
The government never cancelled that 1958 resolution so it was deemed as accepted. Unless there is a consensus, the saffron flag cannot be removed, it was said.

Bizarre way of Holi celebration on Deshmukh road
9:41 PM Posted by ukmad
The colorful Holi is over in major parts of the city. Shahpur will play on Sunday, Rangpanchami.
The most happening road, Deshmukh road has a bizarre way of celebrating holi, you must have seen the same in the video posted earlier on this blog.
Nothing was different today either, same old tearing of clothes and throwing them on the wires along the road.
See the photos take by Team AllaboutBelgaum which shows you the how bizarre the scene must have been in the morning. You can see clothes hanging on the wires along the road. In one picture you can see a middle aged man sitting down looking at these pieces of clothes lying on the road.I remember this to have started when I was in college i.e. in 1994-95 period may it had started earlier but even then it was a bizarre scene and nothing has changed with time.
Belgaum City Corporation will be shifted to new premises by 16
4:12 PM Posted by ukmad
The Belgaum City Corporation (BCC) commissioner has been directed, to shift BCC head office to the new building (Near SP office) and to hoist only national flag atop the new building by March 16, 2009.
CM, Yedurappa during the session period, inaugurated the BCC office. Even after the opening, still no work was being done from there.
For the people of Belgaum shifting is just another reason for their pending work not to be done. Now if you approach the corporation fro some work you will get an answer stating shifting is going on so once that is finished lets see. When shifting will be over, the files have not yet come or need to search and one more thing election time so our boss is on election duty so nothing can be done now.
Such answers will be heard in the days to come. What will Belgaum gain by shifting the BCC to the new premises is to be seen.

1956 postcard of Belgaum:motor body building
1:06 PM Posted by ukmad
The important part is the advertisement or is it the senders address no sure about that. But the truck body building industry is very famous in Belgaum but very little is known about it to the public at large. Still some of them exist on the side road now; on the NH4 towards Bangalore also a few are still there on Dharwad road.
The chassis are converted into truck bodies by use of wood normally sourced from neighboring areas.
I guess the Popular Motor body building works still exists, again not 100% sure about it.
I found this postcard for sale on Ebay.
Sonia Narang In the news, mostly for the right reasons
11:07 AM Posted by ukmad
That's Sonia Narang for you, the 33-year-old SP of Belgaum.
A native of Chandigarh, she excelled in her studies in School and college and was a gold medalist in the Punjab University. Her father retired as a deputy superintendent of police. She cleared the civil services after two failed attempts in 2002.
At the Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy in Mussoorie she met her life partner, Ganesh Kumar while training for IPS. It was not a happy love story but all went on well and got married to him in 2005.
She has son Shaurya, she is very religious and never leaves home without performing the puja. Her husband is a IPS of the Bihar Cadre.
The interview is very nice to read and I would request all to read the full story here.
