IIT Belgaum would it be a near Reality!!!

4:53 PM Posted by ukmad

With inputs from Blogger Satish Kumar

Strength of Unity never die or fail, for the first time in Belgaum all the eighteen MLA and two MPs and our industry bigwigs have come together and forged an alliance for further proceedings of establishment of IIT Belgaum, thanks to MLA Mr Abhay Patil who has taken the lead for this.

Like VTU though head quartered in Belgaum its center of excellence like Tool room R & D center and E learning studio is based in Mysore , Belgumites must not be discriminated anymore and we should have full fledge IIT here at Belgaum.

In past when Mr Mahima Patel was in H D Kumarswamy’s ministry at Delhi brought up the opening of International American University from USA at Belgaum but it never materialized. Hubli-Dharwad got IITB Banglore branch, Gulbarga got Central University and Bangalore have IISC, so it is Belgaum to have IIT now.

Belgaum which is an distinguished place for its industrial strata and acquired global accolades in industrial revolution from starting of Hydraulics to Coach building has got a very valid stand for ITT to be established soon here.

Most prominent personalities of City from Industries, Educational establishment came together and presented and shared information and further road map for establishment of Belgaum IIT which included, Industrialist Mr.Sudhir Dharekar, Mr Vinay Jathar of JP Foundries, Mr Vitthal Hegde(Hotelier) , Mr Naryan Pai (Hotelier) Mr Vishal Hangirkar and Educationalists ,Former IIT Prof Dr Joshi Mr Kori from VTU , KLE Principal Dr S.S. Pilly GIT Principal Dr.D. H. Rao BBCI President Mr .B. Kaggangi, Dr.A.BKalkundrikar (Director IMER), R K Patil (Vavya Labs) Adil Bandukwalla (Leading Minds).

Support from neighboring states too poured in, Two MPs from Goa & MLAs from Maharashtra mainly Kolhapur district have come forward in their interest and support for establishment of Belgaum IIT. I wish Mr Bommi district in charge Minister for Belgaum support this as well and stand by Belgaumites and why not?

This is was the first ever meeting and another will follow this Sunday, most probably. People gathered here have a nice idea for a IIT in Belgaum and we should encourage them to go to the Government and get IIT to Belgaum.

Belgaum is growing as an educational hub, just like Pune. In fact many years ago many people used to compare Belgaum with Pune as the weather was pleasant, but now things have changed in the latter too much with the former being as it was. With colleges like Jain Group, MBA courses in so many colleges like IMER, VTU, MATS, Bhartesh Global School, and AIMS etc. We already have the medical college of high repute in town and the BIMS will add more to it. The Ayurveda College which has been taken over by KLE is being re developed and high standard of Ayurvedic hospital will come up. Homeopathic colleges are already there and we have the state’s best engineering colleges in town.  When we think of law or commerce or science or arts we have colleges older than our parent’s age. I guess by getting IIT to Belgaum or at least trying to get it will improve the face value of Belgaum.

Touch wood; let the IIT come to town.

Heavy rains lash Belgaum city

2:07 PM Posted by ukmad

Heavy rains are lashing the city almost non-stop from last night.

The rain is very heavy, takes a break for a minute or two, and then pours down again with great valor.

Small incidents of tree uprooting have occurred and branches of many trees have broken and fallen on the roads. The danger of water logging in low-lying areas continues and situation in a few areas is grim. Residents of Gandhi Colony, Marathi Colony where water logging is a yearly fete, residents are making themselves ready for the same.

Monsoon special Rs.3 Vada Pav Tea Rs.2

10:57 AM Posted by ukmad

Inflation has gone negative but the prices of food items have risen above expectations. Vegetables are now at an all time high.

With all this behind, the Pop in restaurant near Military Mahadev has started this Monsoon special offer. Vada Pav for Rs.3 and Tea for Rs.2.

A make shift stall has been erected just at the corner of the Kagal cross on Congress road. The stall is very picturesquely situated as there is the pond of water which is full now in the back ground and coconut trees on one side. This offer is catching up on passersby and day one there was not much response but now there is good response to the offer. The same is also very visible from the numbers of vehicles seen in the photo. The Vada pav stall runs from early morning to late evenings and is catching up with the passing crowd.

I could not go to taste the same, but many of you can do and let us all know about the taste as well. Happy eating.

Open spaces face land mafia scare

5:34 PM Posted by ukmad

Land mafia along with some officials is making gratuitous use of their powers to grab the open spaces of land all over the city. The DC has ordered all the authorities like the Sub Registrar, Corporation, Tashildar and other offices not to register any such transfer of land.

Shridhar alias Nyanesh Saraf has submitted to the DC the complete list of open spaces in the city with all details and has urged the authorities to see that the land is not grabbed by the land mafia and put to use for what it has been reserved.

Nyanesh Saraf has categorically illustrated the various plots which are open spaces and reserved for parks, playgrounds, Women hostel, gardens etc. Nyanesh Saraf has appealed to the authorities not to accept any transfer of rights to the above properties. The DC has hence ordered not to register any such transfer without proper scrutiny.

Nyanesh Saraf has also sought police protection for himself as he fears of an attack on his life. He said, my life is danger and I need police protection.

Mr.Tinaikar who uprooted the Telgi stamp paper scam has been given round the clock police protection for his expose of the whole scam. Nyanesh Saraf has sighted similar protection for him as well.

Rains take a strategic break

10:09 AM Posted by ukmad

After pouring 31 mm from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm on Thursday and 30 mm on Wednesday, Rains have decided to take a strategic break this Friday morning.

The sun is out and its looks very sunny and pleasant. All primary schools have been declared a holiday today, so the kids can come out and play.

In yesterdays rain there were a few instances of wall collapses in various areas but to casualties were reported. The wall of the big gutter in Swami Vivekanand colony near Ganesh temple collapsed and the danger of some others parts has also arisen.

The good roads are now turning themselves them in to bad ones with big pot holes getting created.
