Congress road should be declared Accident zone
4:24 PM Posted by ukmad
Today at 2.05pm two motorcycles collided with each other injuring one seriously and two others.
The accident occurred near Arun Theatre on Congress Road (the cross road towards hotel Panchamrut). A motorcyclist coming in full speed from First gate towards military Mahadev collided with another motorcyclist who was coming wrong side on the same road trying to go towards first gate.
The police immediately came in and fortunately a Police jeep was passing by which took the injured to hospital. The 108 ambulance which was called in by on lookers came later.
Residents of the area demanded that speed breakers be put up near the side roads approaching the Congress road so that such accidents done take place. Similar accidents have take place many a times on the same road and most of the time they go unreported and hence nothing is done by the authorities, Santosh Purohit a local resident told this blog. There are as many as 8 cross roads on Congress road from Military Mahadev to first railway gate.
Commuters on Congress road normally are in full speed and suddenly when some vehicle comes in cross the road either they collide or skid after applying brakes urgently.

Mysterious divider
10:37 AM Posted by ukmad
This is strange story of divider, which disappears as soon as the cops who replaced it went off.
The spot is between 2 and 3rd gate near the Shantesha Motors. The beginning of the story, there was a divider from second gate to Gogte’s house where there is a break in the divider to go to R C Nagar.
Recently with the blessings of a high profile, person the divider was removed from the spot. People complained that this will cause accidents and hence the divider was replaced. Again after sometime the divider were removed and this time speed breakers were put on the main roads near the spot.
A couple of days back the Traffic police took notice of the situation and decided to do away with the speed breakers and re install the divider, but as soon as the police went off the divider also. This is causing many hardships and can cause major accidents as trucks and heavy vehicles from Udyambag side pass from here.
Why the high profile person is interested in removing the divider so often is a mystery. Why does not the authorities take strict action against the ones who is removing the dividers?

Unclean Belgaum beautiful Belgaum
7:15 PM Posted by ukmad
“Swach Belgaum Sundar Belgaum” I read this somewhere written by the corporation. It means Clean Belgaum Beautiful Belgaum.
While going around in the night on Thursday to see Ganpati’s I took the below photo at Kadolkar Galli-Ganpat Galli corner. All the vegetable waste is seen lying in the centre of the road. There are thousands of people moving around to see the Ganpati’s and while passing by have to close their noses and pass.
There have been huge hoardings been put up by the corporation on swine flu in which keep yourself hygienic is mentioned. But who will keep the roads hygienic?
Personal hygiene is ok but what about social hygiene. The health department should look into such matters seriously and not as part of daily routine and clean up this stuff daily.
