Beautiful picnic trekking spot near Belgaum Nersa and Godholi

11:08 AM Posted by ukmad

In my constant endeavor to give readers information, which others do not, here is another effort on the same lines.

Belgaum is situated very near to nature and many spots near about 40 kms from the city are unknown to many and undiscovered.

Here is one great spot.

This is the beautiful picnic / trekking spot.

 Nersa

It is just 40 kms. Away from Belgaum and 15 kms from Khanapur.

This is MANDAVI River, which flows to Goa. This Place is after Nersa, which is 15 kms away from Khanapur.

 How to reach there:

40 kms from Belgaum 15 kms from Khanapur.

After Khanapur, take a right turn. Lot of banana plantation is going on due to ample water availability. You can park your vehicle just after Nersa and either go walking or take a vehicle from Nersa because road condition is worst.

There are locals there who can help you get vehicles, to be on the safer side it is suggested to do a pilot trip first and then one could go along with a huge group. You won’t get anything to eat so take along all your food and water, if you want go there cook you can do that also.

The best time to go there would be after the rains, all the photos were taken on 14th June, 2009 so you can see crystal clear water there for all to indulge into. As there is no road it is best to go after the rains.

 Godholi:

Hill station like atmosphere at Godholi. This place is 15 kms from Nersa.

You reach to Godholi, which is just like a Matheran, a beautiful hill station. There is a table top before Godholi where one can halt for a night. There are no resorts as yet all is in nature’s best way. You can do a campfire, but I would suggest a day out trip to be on a safer side.

Belgaum Goa road will not be widened

12:01 PM Posted by ukmad

The Belgaum Goa road which is dire straits within the borders of Karnataka will now not be made into a 4 lane road as was planned earlier. To add to this nor is the Belgaum Chorla Goa road be done as the High court has stayed the work on a PIL.

The NH 4 A Belgaum Khanapur- Rmanagar- Anmod Goa highway was planned to be 4 a lane road but now it will be only 10 meters wide, in some places it is 5 to 7 meters now. A survey was done and as per the suggestions of the survey this road will now be a 10 meter road as per the National highways department.
Majority of the said road was to be in the green forest belt and there were practical problems for widening near Khanapur. Also another reason cited for not widening is another route Belgaum Chorla Goa route which will hamper the BOT (build operate Transfer) scheme. As there is an alternative road people would use that and toll collections would be hit.

The reason cited by the company surveying is economically correct but now the Chorla road work has also come to stand still after a order of the court on a PIL for saving the forest land. The 51 kms stretch from Peeranwadi to Chorla is though reserve forest land and the PIL made the same point as to how can the reserve forest land are used for roads.
Now for the common man it’s a loose loose situation. Nor this road nor that road, Anmod patch is in very bad condition still and with just 3 months for rains if nothing is done immediately you have it reaching Goa would be a great adventure. Even today most of the commuters take the Belgaum Savantawadi Goa route.

Let’s pray to God that the road be made as early as possible.

Khanapur Road, Civil Hospital Road hot cakes: Belgaum real Estate update

9:51 AM Posted by ukmad

I had mentioned this earlier on this blog also, the incoming of big real estate developers in Belgaum have sky rocketed the prices of real estate. The same trend continues in town even when the real estate market is not doing so well with the hike in interest rates by the banks.

Civil Hospital Road (Dr.Ambedkar Road) the rate has touched Rs.35 lakhs per guntha, that’s a whopping 3215 per Sq.Feet on the other hand its rival competitive Khanapur Road which boasts of Ambani, Tata, Birla & Biyani on the same road now costs Rs.30 lakhs per guntha, that is Rs.2755 per Sq.Feet.

Now to me, that is a lot of money. Lease rentals are between Rs.50-65 per Sq.Feet. Due to the price rise on Khanapur road, the prices in the internal roads have also increased to about 12 lakhs per guntha.

Heard the Nucleus mall is asking for Rs.10,000 per Sq.feet for out right purchase.
The increase in the price has been very rapid. In the past year, it has risen by 25 to 50%. Is this good or a bubble which will burst nobody knows, at least I do not know.

I request you readers to put in your views on this.
